Baking for a Brighter Family Future

After the financial collapse of his beloved small restaurant, Golf took on the only job available to him and became a delivery driver. He began to despair as his new job was insufficient to provide for the needs of his family. Golf found hope again after he was invited to join a BSF 18-month family strengthening program, with the chance to better provide for his family by doing what he loves...baking!

Golf originally ran a successful small restaurant in Chiang Mai, Thailand. However, due to an economic downturn and the subsequent decline in business, he experienced a devastating setback with his restaurant being forced to shut down. Golf felt helpless but endeavored to find a new job immediately! He had no choice but to take on the role of a delivery driver of bakery products, however his daily income was not enough to provide for his five family members. With the help of BSF, he courageously began working on embracing a new change.

During discussions with BSF, Golf expressed his dream to run his own bakery business, which would supplement his income as a delivery driver. He had a passion for baking and this would generate more income so he could support his whole family. After participating in training to run a business and manage money, Golf then developed a small business plan with BSF who also helped him purchase what he needed. BSF provided Golf with an oven, pastry tray, mixing bowls, cupcake molds, ingredients for baking such as large boxes of butter, wheat flour and corn flour, and other much needed bakery equipment.

Golf's bakery business has begun to flourish and now provides an additional income of around 200 Baht per day, which is expected to increase even further as his markets expand. The family now have sufficient funds to meet their needs, and Golf can finally ensure the well-being of his family.

Golf expressed his gratitude and said, “I would like to thank BSF for giving my family the opportunity to participate in all the various activities of the program. BSF have supported me with Income Generation Assistance (bakery shop) and this has helped me earn more to support my family. We are also very grateful for the opportunity to spend enjoyable times together on BSF Family Fun Days as I never had the chance to take my family out like this before!”
