Poverty is a significant factor that leads to the relinquishment of children to orphanages in Asia. Therefore, Building Strong Families (BSF) aims to empower families so they can generate more income and become financially sustainable to keep children in a family. Depending on skills and interests, this may include raising goats, growing mushrooms, or even grilling and selling fish, as in the case of the grateful Jai Ruan family in Thailand.
After a lot of planning and research with the BSF project coordinator, the Jai Ruan family expressed an interest to start a grilled fish stall. It was a business area where they had some keen interest and prior experience.
BSF helped them plan their business, obtain training, and find a market location. They were also supported with a moveable stall, fish, and some supplies to get started.
They were so happy to begin their own family business and are now on the road to becoming financially sustainable for their precious children.
BSF is a partner for project J1079 & J1102 with Australian NGO, Global Development Group (ABN 57 102 400 993). Donations to BSF through Global Development Group are tax deductible in Australia, NZ, and the USA.
