Happy Graduation!

We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of three of our programs! Join us in celebrating these incredible families who have completed 18 months of capacity building, skills development and most importantly, strengthened family relationships!

As another year has come to a close, we celebrate the successful completion of three of our programs: Dhapakhel (Nepal), Padaed, and Choeng Doi (Thailand). We celebrate three incredible cohorts of families (total of 28 families and 94 people) who have journeyed together for 18 months, growing in communication, practical love, safety, and sustainable income avenues.

This year has seen some incredible milestones for our families - through BSF's Income Generation Assistance (IGA), they have started shoe shops, become goat farmers, established chicken businesses and restaurants, and started tailoring to go beyond just making ends meet to begin providing tangible, sustainable benefits for their families. By first conducting a money management training session for the family in the second month of the BSF project, families learned how to manage finances and developed a preliminary plan for their IGA. From there, after confirming their commitment to the project, families were afforded the IGA support for them to start earning more for their families, and ultimately, to keep their families together.

Our families also participated in several training days on a range of topics that aimed to equip them with practical skills to develop family health. Some of these insightful topics included looking at: what is a family; valuing children; the role of parents and positive discipline; child rights and child protection; money management; health and hygiene; and social skills.

During our weekly family visits, we got to monitor the needs and progress of the family, provide counselling, and check on the children and adults’ safety. We also conducted hygiene, health and nutrition checks and followed up on their IGA plan and money management. Some of the noticeable behaviour changes included increased hygiene and cleanliness in houses, improved interactions with children, and participants becoming more active and open compared to before the program.

Our families also got to experience the beauty of our ‘Family Fun Days’, where families go out to simply enjoy each other’s company in a new environment. Altogether, they each experienced eight of these days out, including zoo trips, a trip to an art museum, and nature day escapes.

In culmination of the 18 months of fellowship, training and activities, there was a Family Camp, during which a number of fun, family-building activities took place that aimed to solidify the valuable lessons and experiences the families had shared together over the past 18 months.

The program officially ended with the Graduation Ceremony, which included a presentation by BSF representatives as well as government officials who addressed the attendees, offering their support and encouragement.

We are elated to announce that one of our main goals, to keep children in a safe, loving family has been achieved!

Not a single child in our programs has been given up to an orphanage but are with healthier, more secure families because of the program. Family bonds have strengthened and saving habits have also improved which will lead to great rewards down the track of these families’ lives.

After completing the three programs, each family was asked four questions and responded as follows:

  • 100% reported that they now feel more hopeful about the future;

  • 100% said they feel better in general;

  • 100% reported they feel extremely confident in their ability to keep their family together;

  • 100% said they have seen relationships improve in their family over the course of the program

We are humbled by these results, and ever grateful for your ongoing support and partnership with us! These successes are yours as well as ours – the precious children staying with their biological families are a triumph for you as well as for their parents, and we rejoice together with them.

Thank you again for your generosity, love, and support as we work together to build strong families! We eagerly look forward to another year of more families growing strong together in 2025.
