Niruta Goes Top of the Class

After falling behind in her schoolwork, BSF provided Niruta with extra tuition and school supplies. Since then, she has not only passed all her exams, but has also gone top of the class!

Twelve-year-old Niruta and her family are part of the BSF project in Dhapakhel, Nepal. She is a smart and active girl who likes to participate in all school activities.

Before joining the BSF project, Niruta’s school shut down for months due to the Covid pandemic and all her classes went online. Her family didn’t have the required technology or internet connection for Niruta to attend. As a result, tuition classes were offered by the school for students who could not attend online, but Niruta’s father did not have the money required.

Because Niruta could not attend any classes and could only submit her homework, her school grades were greatly affected. She became very sad and discouraged.

But Niruta's sadness soon turned to joy when her family were invited to join the BSF project. She was delighted when her and her siblings were supported with fees for their tuition classes, and also provided with new uniforms, and school books.

A few weeks after enrolling in classes, Niruta’s studies started to improve. Then slowly the schools started to reopen with in-person classes and Niruta could go to school again. Grateful for the educational support she had received from BSF, Niruta worked hard and began to really excel.

After some months, Niruta attended her final year exam with her classmates. When the results came out, she was delighted to see that she was now top of her class!

When our BSF project coordinator visited the family, he was met with a huge smile of gratitude. Niruta said, “Thank you so much for helping me enroll in tuition classes during the pandemic and for providing me with all the necessary materials for my education. The tuition classes helped me in the areas where I was struggling and I have been able to catch-up and excel in my studies now.

On top of this, BSF is also working with Niruta's parents to help them become more financially sustainable so they can cover their children's school expenses and needs in the future. After learning that Niruta's parents had skills to raise livestock, BSF was glad to provide them with six goats so they can build a goat herd to provide for the needs of their whole family.
