Sanu's Dream Becomes a Reality

While battling poverty in Nepal, Sanu dreamed of having her own business. Through support from BSF, her dream has become a reality. Sanu is now proud to be providing for her own family.

Sanu is a hardworking mother who lives in a small village in Chhampi, Nepal. Her husband worked as a daily labourer but the family's income was barely enough to cover the basic family necessities and school tuition fees for their son.

The family had taken out a large loan at a high interest rate with the intention of building a one-room house for the whole family, however their lack of income prevented them from repaying their loan. Sanu longed to find a way to increase her income in order to help her family out of their financial hardship. For a long time, Sanu desperately wanted to have her own business but lacked the resources, confidence and support to get started.

After being invited and joining the BSF program, Sanu expressed an interest to start a small grocery store in her village, selling basic goods and household items. BSF then provided Sanu with financial management training to equip her with the knowledge and skills needed to begin her exciting new venture. In addition to this, Sanu took part in BSF workshops that educated her in how to start her own business, and how to successfully develop the business plan. BSF then provided her with the products, equipment, and tools she needed to launch her new business venture.

With ongoing support and guidance from BSF, Sanu was able to implement some changes to her business model which assisted her to generate a steadier income.

Over time, Sanu's business grew as she improved managing her finances and reinvesting profits back into her business. With the new-found success of her business, Sanu has been able to provide more successfully for her family by way of food, clothing, and healthcare. She has even begun saving money for her child's education, the re-payment of the loan, and for future business investments.

Sanu expressed her gratitude and said, "The assistance and encouragement I have received from BSF has been invaluable. I never imagined being able to support my family, but now I am."
