Training Families about Health, Hygiene & Nutrition

Prevention is better than the cure! That is why BSF takes time to train and equip all of our families in the area of health, hygiene, and nutrition, to prevent illness in the family. If sickness or accidents do occur, being medically prepared can prevent further risks.

Not every family can afford basic healthcare, or even a simple first aid kit for their home. One of BSF’s goals is to support families to develop holistically to address these needs. This includes providing them with livelihood support so they can eventually cover their own health costs, a medical check-up, and also equipping them and facilitating training on how to live a happy and healthy life.

Dr Louise facilitating a BSF Health Care Training

Recently, BSF’s partner in Chiang Mai, Thailand, Acts Church, organized a special Training Day for BSF families on health, hygiene and nutrition. The families were blessed to have Dr Louise, a family medicine doctor, facilitate the training.

Families learned about basic hygiene, physical health, nutrition, household medicine, and basic first aid. They even had the chance to demonstrate their learning by practicing with each other on how to treat wounds and broken bones.

Taking time to learn how to use first aid kits correctly

Not only did all the participants learn so much about taking care of their bodies and keeping in good health, but they also received a special gift from BSF in the form of a first aid kit for each family, along with clear guidance on how to use it correctly. They were overjoyed as normally most families couldn’t afford to buy a first aid kit for their home, but now they are fully informed and equipped.

All of our families had such an enjoyable day learning about good health and knowing how to apply that in their family. Helping to educate and equip our families so they can prevent sickness and stay healthy and happy is one of our interventions to build stronger families for vulnerable children. We are so grateful to our project partners, donors, and volunteers, who help to make this all possible for our precious families. Many thanks to you all.
